Job Description

Our client is hiring an Associate Attorney to join their Student Services and Disabilities group with openings in several California offices including Cerritos, Fresno, Irvine, Pleasanton, Riverside, and Sacramento. This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys with 0–5 years of experience who have a passion for education law and a strong foundation in legal research, writing, and client engagement.

The practice focuses on legal matters affecting pre-K through 12th grade students, including compliance with special education law, Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Associates will support senior attorneys and partners in providing both advisory services and litigation support.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with legal matters involving special education, disability accommodations, and student rights.
  • Provide support on cases involving Section 504, ADA, and related anti-discrimination statutes. Conduct legal research, drafting, and analysis under the guidance of senior attorneys.
  • Support clients in proceedings before the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), California Department of Education (CDE), and Office for Civil Rights (OCR).

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; California Bar admission in good standing or pending.
  • 0–5 years of legal experience, preferably with exposure to education law, disability rights, or civil rights. Strong research and writing skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-service mindset.
  • Demonstrated interest in student advocacy, special education, or public-sector legal work.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and manage multiple assignments.
