Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Associate Attorney to join their Commercial and Complex Litigation practice, with a focus on wage and hour defense. This position is available in multiple California offices including Cerritos, Irvine, Pasadena, and Sausalito. The ideal candidate brings significant experience handling class actions and a deep understanding of California and federal labor laws.
Responsibilities:
- Defend employers in wage and hour litigation, including class and representative actions.
- Advise clients on compliance with California and federal wage and hour laws, including overtime, meal/rest breaks, and related issues.
- Manage written discovery and develop discovery plans, including drafting and responding to requests with minimal supervision.
- Handle depositions and motion practice, particularly involving discovery and class certification issues.
- Draft high-quality legal documents, including motions opposing class certification.
- Maintain direct client contact, offering strategic legal advice and ensuring professional, responsive communication.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admitted to the California Bar and in good standing.
- 4+ years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on wage and hour defense (class action experience strongly preferred).
- Proficient in wage and hour legal frameworks under California Labor Code and FLSA.
- Strong deposition, discovery, and motion drafting skills, especially in high-stakes litigation.
- Ability to work independently and interface directly with clients.
- Excellent written, verbal, and follow-through communication skills.
