Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the billing process, including generating, reviewing, and distributing client invoices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records and ensure timely processing of invoices.
  • Communicate with clients to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other staff to ensure proper billing practices and compliance with firm policies.
  • Analyze billing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of billing software and systems.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial and client information.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in legal billing or a similar role within a law firm.
  • Proficiency in billing software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an AmLaw 200 law firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with legal billing software such as Elite, Aderant, or similar systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of electronic billing (e-billing) processes and platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
