JOB-2022

A well-funded, late-stage startup is creating an AI-driven robotics platform that puts robots to work inside scientific laboratories, with the aim of speeding up biological and drug research. Its engineers come from leading aerospace, automotive, neurotech and e-commerce backgrounds. This opening is for a software engineer who will shape major pieces of the robotics stack.

Your focus

  • Write software that plans arm movements and optimizes their trajectories for robotic arms working in cluttered, ever-changing lab spaces
  • Test and troubleshoot software in simulation and on real machines, delivering code that controls actual hardware
  • Apply computer vision so robots can handle labware and instruments that were built for people
  • Partner with researchers inside client laboratories to learn their pain points and steer deployment
  • Look for ways to simplify the platform and make it sturdier and easier to scale

Qualifications

  • One to eight years in robotics software, mainly in C++ or Python, with professional-level Python
  • Software you have personally shipped onto physical robot hardware
  • Background in motion planning, trajectory optimization, kinematics, dynamics or control
  • Degree in robotics, computer science, EECS, or computer, electrical or mechanical engineering
  • A plus: manipulation or high-dexterity work, lab automation or manufacturing robotics, and simulators such as MuJoCo or PyBullet

On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area. Visa transfers and new sponsorships are considered.
