A Series A company that is already profitable and sells agentic AI to banks and credit unions is hiring a hands-on engineering executive to lead its core platform group. The role partners closely with the chief executive and the CTO, and combines running a team with staying in the code.
The work
- Manage and grow the current platform engineers while staying heavily involved in the code and system design
- Collaborate every day with the chief executive and CTO on launches and on new platform efforts built from scratch
- Own the platform core from end to end: LLM orchestration, the agent runtime, retrieval, evaluations, integrations and tooling for authoring agents
- Improve delivery pace, dependability and quality in tooling, gating evals and observability
- Scale the group along with the engineering culture as the company enters its next chapter
Ideal background
- Ten to sixteen years in engineering, including four to six in leadership, with experience scaling revenue, funding stages or headcount
- Production experience with agentic or AI systems, infrastructure for LLMs and ML, or conversational and voice products, specifically from the platform angle
- Still technical: actively coding, reviewing pull requests and making architecture decisions rather than managing only
- Strong TypeScript or Python and daily use of frontier AI tools
- Startup background strongly preferred, though exceptional big-tech leaders with a fast career trajectory may be considered
- A computer science degree
On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, five days a week. Visa transfers and new visa sponsorship are both available.
