A fast-growing developer-infrastructure startup in New York, whose product makes cloud deployment painless for engineering teams, is putting together its first core team in the city. It wants a design engineer who cares intensely about interface craft and who writes the production code to prove it.
What you’ll own
- Refine the central flows of the product, with particular attention to how information is organized
- Design and implement micro-interactions such as icon animations and loading states
- Raise the level of visual detail and build polished interfaces yourself rather than handing off mockups
- Collaborate with the CEO, the product group and frontend engineers while a recent rebrand rolls out across every product surface
- Take part in regular design reviews, with a real path toward leading the design function over time
Who thrives here
- Two to five years as a frontend or design engineer on SaaS interfaces, spending most of your time building and shipping code
- Production-grade React and TypeScript
- A portfolio or work sample that shows clear micro-interaction polish; minimalist and graphic-led styles are both welcome
- Experience with dense SaaS or developer-tools interfaces, including table-heavy and form-driven dashboards
- A history at design-forward companies with a strong craft culture
- Nice to have: Figma skills and a taste for reusable components and patterns
