JOB-1885
An AI-native startup building software for insurance claims operations is hiring its first product designer. Since nobody else works on design, this person shapes every customer-facing surface, with the emphasis on making a complicated claims process feel easy rather than on visual polish.
Day to day
- Own all surfaces customers touch, from the workspace an adjuster lives in for most of the day to dashboards used by team leads and executives
- Run user research and instrumentation: study usage data and heat maps, hold discovery calls and spend time with users
- Convert customer pain points into clear flows alongside the chief product officer, engineers embedded with customers and the wider engineering group, then hand designs off for build
- Design how users supervise AI agents performing real tasks, exposing the agent’s actions, its reasoning, its sources and its uncertainty
- Lead the evolution of an early prototype-grade interface into an enterprise-ready product for large carriers
- Create the design system plus guiding principles, prototyping daily with AI tools
Ideal background
- Five to eight years as a product designer with steady tenures at tech companies
- A portfolio of heavy, technical operator software used for long stretches
- Experience simplifying complex processes into data-driven workflows that shipped
- Early-stage startup experience, ideally as a first or founding designer
- Insurance, healthcare or other compliance-heavy domain exposure is a plus
On-site in New York, NY, five days a week. Visa transfers considered; new sponsorship is not offered.
