JOB-1814
A defense technology company that supplies software to government agencies is hiring a program lead to guide customer engagements from kickoff to mission impact. The manager partners with a technical lead and several engineers, and is answerable for results in the field, not simply for hitting dates.
In this role
- Hold overall responsibility for each customer engagement as lead of the program, alongside a technical lead and several engineers
- Discover how the customer’s tools and processes are truly used by going into the data and speaking with operators, instead of relying solely on requirement documents
- Convert desired results into scoped and ranked work, separating real mission needs from distractions and individual preferences
- Act as the connection point between government clients and the engineering group, explaining what has to be developed and handed over
- Clear obstacles rather than log delays, and change direction when the evidence shows the plan is mistaken
- Keep trusted working relationships with operators, program leaders, technical stakeholders and contracting personnel
- Carry field lessons into product and engineering, and guide teams inside and outside the company, with room to build your own as the business expands
Qualifications
- At least four years owning complicated technical programs or rollouts in defense and national-security settings, with demonstrated responsibility for mission results
- Previous people management; defense industry background strongly preferred
- Ease dealing with agency clients inside classified environments
- Active Secret clearance when hired (TS/SCI preferred)
- Military service or experience with enterprise data platforms is a plus
Hybrid, based in the Washington, DC area or Florida, with travel up to 40%. No visa sponsorship or transfers.
