JOB-1586

A company that operates uncrewed surface vessels for ocean and defense missions is looking for a perception engineer to help its vehicles make sense of their surroundings. The work centers on turning raw camera and radar signals into dependable awareness, then proving it on real boats at sea.

Day to day

  • Create onboard algorithms that let autonomous vessels track other objects, estimate their own state and position, and combine data from several sensors
  • Turn camera, radar and comparable sensor streams into trustworthy estimates of the vessel’s position and its environment
  • Write, test and tune production-grade C++ that runs onboard
  • Study field recordings and how the vessels actually behave to uncover failures and harden the system
  • Wire perception outputs into the wider autonomy software, then verify the results on real vessels
  • Take part in architecture decisions for how the vessels perceive the world

What you bring

  • About four to eight years in perception, computer vision or robotics, with perception as the core of your recent work
  • Production C++ shipped on field-deployed robotic or autonomous platforms within the last five years
  • Hands-on experience with object detection, tracking, or camera, radar or lidar pipelines on deployed systems
  • Solid grounding in the math behind estimation and perception
  • Experience setting up, tuning and calibrating sensors mounted on real vehicles
  • Nice to have: SLAM, Kalman filters, visual odometry, Python, an advanced degree

Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents; visa sponsorship and transfers are not offered.
