JOB-1495

A quickly expanding robotics startup developing humanoid robots needs an electrical engineer at senior level to take charge of the core electronics. This is a zero-to-one position with real architectural authority and responsibility for subsystems from concept through production.

What you’ll own

  • Complete design ownership for the power electronics: BMS, power distribution, protection circuitry and DC-DC converters
  • Schematics and dense boards of ten or more layers, carried from initial concept through lab bring-up of prototypes and into production
  • Drive electronics for robot joint motors, plus sensing circuitry for force-torque sensors, encoders and IMUs
  • Design-for-manufacturing and assembly decisions, working hand in hand with outside manufacturers on production-scale designs
  • Daily collaboration with mechanical and firmware colleagues on interfaces, integration and thermal limits

Qualifications

  • Five or more years in electrical engineering for robotics, drones or autonomous vehicles
  • Proven ownership of complex PCB design from schematic to production, using tools such as Altium, Allegro or KiCad
  • Depth in battery management, DC-DC and protection design
  • Experience with BLDC, PMSM or FOC motor drives for robot joints; EtherCAT is a plus
  • At least one hardware product shipped to production, and strong bench and lab skills
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

On-site in the South Bay Area (Silicon Valley). Visa transfers considered.
