An early-stage startup building an AI operator for online consumer brands is hiring its second engineer. The person in this seat writes code every day while also helping decide how the engineering team works and how the system is designed, at a company whose customer base is growing very quickly.
What you’ll own
- Build the data foundation that records every event in a merchant’s lifecycle, so the system learns which actions lead to which results
- Develop a self-improving, agent-driven growth loop that reviews how a merchant runs growth, decides what should change and carries out those changes automatically
- Own the full-stack work behind that growth engine, with an emphasis on backend and infrastructure
- Deliver dependable integrations for TikTok, Meta and Shopify, along with orchestration tooling
- Coach the other founding engineer, staying hands-on throughout
Who thrives here
- Five or more years of full-stack engineering with a strong backend lean (event systems, data infrastructure, API integrations)
- Production-grade agentic or LLM-based systems that you owned end to end, including third-party API work
- Experience guiding one or two engineers, as a tech lead or founder
- Time at a startup during its growth phase, or a degree from a leading engineering program
- Skill at setting priorities and imposing structure when things are ambiguous
- Bonus: commerce or marketing-technology API experience
