JOB-1543

A young company building maritime-based infrastructure for the space industry has reached its first full-scale construction project and is hiring its first full-time finance employee. The role begins close to day-to-day transactions and operations, then expands into leading accounting and finance as the business grows.

Responsibilities

  • Process payables and receivables for large, infrequent transactions, working next to operations during the initial build
  • Supervise the outside bookkeeper and take ownership of the monthly close
  • Handle cash flow, budgeting, budget-versus-actual analysis and reporting for management and the board each quarter
  • Modernize the finance systems and connect them to the vessel-management platform
  • Recruit and manage a payables and receivables specialist within a couple of quarters

What you bring

  • Six or more years as a controller, accounting manager or head of finance, with a CPA and Big Four background
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a solid hands-on accounting foundation, beyond strategic finance or consulting work
  • Prior experience building or scaling a finance function at an early-stage or high-growth company
  • Skill in month-end close, financial reporting, cash forecasting and budgeting
  • Experience with procurement and AP/AR for a capital project; capital-intensive or hardware-adjacent industries are a plus
  • A builder’s mindset that creates process and discipline from a blank page

On-site in St. Petersburg, Florida. Candidates must be US persons; visa sponsorship is not offered.
