JOB-1400
A startup in construction technology that analyzes site imagery with computer vision is hiring a senior engineer to scale its data platform and build AI-driven automation. The work is mostly backend, roughly 70 to 80 percent, with the remainder on the frontend, in a very small engineering group close to the founder.
Focus areas
- Grow and scale the central Python/Django API that handles an enormous monthly volume of site images, spanning computer-vision, object detection and display tiers
- Own the company’s in-house agent tooling and the endpoints that serve its data, steering the business toward a self-improving system that largely runs itself
- Create pipelines that ingest and interpret documents, mail threads and messages, then anchor that information to the physical layout of each project to feed knowledge graphs for users, projects and accounts
- Lead a construction-project agent from design through release that constantly assesses and prioritizes risk for clients
- Create fast aggregation logic and dashboard summaries, and write React yourself so you are never waiting on others
- Partner daily with the founder and CEO, aiming to fix real customer problems rather than merely ship features
Background
- At least five years in software development, ideally six or more, with experience at startups no later than Series B
- Has built intricate systems that crunch large volumes of data, such as image, document or event pipelines, and owned them end to end
- Deep Python and Django, with hands-on React
- Autonomous working style, at ease without hand-holding
- Plus: experience with agent loops, feedback systems driven by LLMs, or solid geometry and math skills for handling 360-degree images in three dimensions
Hybrid in New York, NY. No visa sponsorship or transfers.
