JOB-1408
A fast-growing startup has built an AI sales agent that attends live video meetings with potential buyers, probes their needs with discovery questions, and demonstrates the product by operating a browser. The company already has paying customers using it and needs a lead AI engineer at the founding stage. This person will report to the chief technology officer, a co-founder, and set the technical direction for the agent.
What you’ll own
- Agent capabilities (about 40 percent of your time): how the agent thinks, calls tools and remembers, and how it regains footing if a conversation leaves the planned path, all while meeting tight real-time response-time limits
- Evaluation and data (about a quarter): use evaluation pipelines, data curation and targeted fine-tuning so a large archive of actual sales conversations produces steady, measurable weekly progress
- Browser agent reliability (about a fifth): keep the agent steady while it drives an actual web browser to demo the product to a buyer mid-conversation
- Full-stack delivery (the remainder): TypeScript on both server and client, shaping the product alongside early customers
- Strategic choices: choose the models and approaches to commit to, make build-versus-buy calls, and plan the agent’s next-quarter capabilities
Profile
- Four to seven years as an AI engineer who has taken AI agents from concept to production on their own
- At least a year with real-time or voice AI systems, such as WebRTC or LiveKit-style streaming and low latency
- Experience with evals, observability and cost optimization for agents
- Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js and Next.js
- Founder or founding-engineer experience, and browser automation such as Playwright, are a plus
