Job Description
Our client, a well-established litigation firm, is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney for its Hartford, CT office, with a focus on civil litigation. This hybrid position offers a dynamic caseload and the opportunity to work on complex matters across insurance defense, professional liability, construction, employment, medical malpractice defense, and long-term care. The role is ideal for attorneys with 3–8 years of litigation experience looking to balance meaningful legal work with flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and discovery responses; perform legal research and prepare internal memoranda.
- Participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys, clients, and experts to develop effective litigation strategies.
- Maintain regular client communication, including status updates and written reports.
- Contribute to a supportive, collaborative, and growth-oriented team environment.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in Connecticut, or eligible based on UBE score.
- 3–8 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or a closely related field.
- Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions, handling discovery, and conducting legal analysis.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Arbitration and/or trial experience preferred; clerkship experience is a plus.
