Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney or Senior Counsel to join their Employment Litigation Practice, focusing on single plaintiff matters. This position is open across multiple California offices, including Cerritos, Fresno, Irvine, Pasadena, Pleasanton, Riverside, Sacramento, San Diego, and Sausalito. Ideal candidates will have 3–7+ years of experience in employment defense litigation and a strong foundation in case management, motion practice, and client advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Defend employers in single plaintiff lawsuits involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination in state and federal court.
- Respond to administrative complaints before agencies such as the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
- Provide employment law counsel on workplace matters and compliance issues.
- Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and admissions.
- Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
- Handle law and motion practice, including dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, and discovery-related motions.
- Prepare case evaluations, settlement assessments, and litigation strategy reports.
- Manage cases proactively from initial filing through resolution or trial.
- Represent clients in mediations, including drafting mediation briefs and negotiating resolutions. Attend court hearings, argue motions, and participate in arbitrations and trials as needed.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing.
- 3–7+ years of experience in employment litigation, particularly defending single plaintiff claims.
- Proficient in discovery management, depositions, and motion work.
- Experience with administrative proceedings before state and federal employment agencies. Strong written and oral advocacy, with excellent research and drafting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters independently and communicate effectively with clients.
