Most staffing agencies learn about your company from a job description and a kickoff call. They do not know what it actually feels like to be the fifth engineer at a startup, or the first AE trying to sell a product that changes every two weeks. That gap shows up in the candidates they send you.
Recruiters who have worked inside a startup notice different things. They can tell the difference between a candidate who wants “startup energy” as a buzzword and one who has actually shipped under ambiguity. They know that a resume full of big-company logos does not automatically translate to comfort with a lean, fast-moving team. And they know how to sell a candidate on an opportunity that has real risk attached to it, because they have made that same decision themselves.
It also changes how they run the process. A former startup operator knows that a two-week interview loop can lose you a great candidate to a company that moved faster. They know that “we’ll circle back next week” is a signal top candidates read correctly, and act on. And they know how to represent your company honestly, including the parts that are still being figured out, since pretending otherwise never survives an in-person interview anyway.
That is the whole premise behind ScrumAID. Our recruiters are former startup builders themselves, so the candidates we bring you have already been screened by someone who knows what the job actually is, not just what the job description says.
