There are times that we get stuck and we don’t know how to snap out of it. No matter how hard we try to distract ourselves to get our groove back on, we just couldn’t. A writer, for example, gets stuck on the first sentence in his article and couldn’t find the right words to continue. He takes a walk, gets overdosed on caffeine, spins around on his chair, but still, new ideas are not forthcoming.  It’s a predicament that people experience in any field or industry. Unfortunately, being stuck doesn’t pay the bills.

This is why we need motivation that can help us get back on our feet and keep moving.

Here are 5 ways to increase motivation.

1. Make a list of things that you need to do

Having a list of things that you need to do gives you something to focus on and helps you organize your thoughts. Being able to tick off items in your list gives you a sense of accomplishment that can make you move forward.

2. Do one thing at a time

Doing many tasks at one time provides unnecessary chaos. Your thoughts are scattered everywhere and you end up producing half-baked results. Focusing on one task at a time builds your momentum until you are able to keep up with the pace and finish all the tasks in your list.

3. Cope with distractions

Getting stuck could be really frustrating. It has adverse effects on your mood and in the way that you deal with people. Having some form of distraction can help but not too much of it. It should only serve as temporary diversion to clear your mind and find your inspiration again.

4. Discover what drives you

Being reminded of the reason why you work is your biggest motivation. What is your goal? For whom are you working hard for? There are several reasons why people work hard. Some are for personal gain while many are for the benefit of their families. Go back to your purpose and you will find your drive again.

5. Challenge yourself

Acquiring skills is quite easy but mastering them is a different story. Always challenge yourself to improve your skills and master your craft.  When you challenge yourself to do things better, it will revive your interest to perform your job to the best of your abilities, giving you a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Feeling stuck and unmotivated is a daily struggle for many people. Motivation is a driving force that can help you get out of that feeling and situation. Just keep hitting any key to continue.
